Indian residents can legally invest in US-listed stocks using the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). You add money from your Indian bank account (in INR), it gets converted to USD, and you can use that USD to buy US stocks through a registered US broker. When you sell, the money stays in your USD wallet and can be withdrawn back to your Indian bank account.
